What is your favorite part of living in Charleston?
Charleston is one of those towns that while it’s growing leaps and bounds still feels like a small connected community. It’s a friendly place and you can almost always find a friend of a friend to help whether its a business question or a babysitter!
We never miss a chance to seek out our favorite biscuit in town! What is your favorite biscuit at Callie’s?
It has to be our classic Buttermilk biscuit. It’s perfect simply on its own but also it’s a great starting point for so many delicious varieties. We can do so many things with buttermilk biscuits - sweeten them with cinnamon butter, stuff them with crab cakes or country ham. Or, simply butter them! I love our savory thyme butter spread on a hot buttermilk biscuit.
What is the best part of running your own brand and business?
Having the ability to find my own balance between being a Mom and doing what I truly love which is making biscuits and being a thoughtful leader!
If we were hosting a southern soiree, what recipe should be on our menu?
In my opinion, no southern soirée is complete without passed warm biscuits and pimento cheese! I love that you find these Southern treats at all types of parties from black tie affairs to a tailgates. Over our 14 years in business, we’ve been lucky enough to share our biscuits across the country. Locals in Dallas can find them in Royal Blue Grocery and Central Market.
With three darling daughters, a thriving business across two states, what keeps you organized and on track each day? Any tips for keeping your life simplified?
Surrounding yourself with a smart team of people! I can’t do this on my own but if I hire people that are experts at what they do, it makes us stronger. My ideas come to fruition only because of the amazing team members we have! We build each other up and rise high - like our biscuits ;)
And of course, what color Big O Key Ring speaks your language?
