What is your favorite part of living in Lexington?
“To me, it’s the best of both worlds because I live on a farm, yet am close to the city! I adore the horses and the lifestyle that surrounds them.” – Shannon
“I love visiting the breweries and bourbon distilleries. Also, October in Lexington is the best month of the year… Keeneland races, fall weather and bourbon – it’s hard to beat!” – Dunn
What tips do you have for dressing little ones in style?
“We recommend choosing timeless styles paired with fresh fabrics. At Little English, we design with soft color palettes and small peter pan collars as a nod to the sweetness of childhood. We modernize classic patterns so they appeal to the modern mom. To us, a well-styled child is one whose sweet, innocent features are accentuated (not overpowered) by the clothing.” - Shannon & Dunn
What is the best part of working with your mother? Daughter?
“Honest feedback – haha – both in business and non-business related things.” - Dunn
“Having the support of someone who shares the same visual eye, creativity and motivation to move the company forward.” - Shannon
What is your go-to monogram style/type?
“For children, one of my favorites is a Fishtail Monogram on a sweet whipstitch collared shirt or gown for boys. For myself, I love having beautifully monogrammed napkins on the table. Right now, my table is sporting the simple but elegant Claire monogram style by Leontine Linens.” - Shannon
“I have hand towels with a hot pink Charlotte Monogram style by Leontine Linens. They add a nice pop of color to my powder room. My next purchase (for a Christmas party!) is Faux Linen Dinner Napkins from Emily McCarthy. I’ll be adding the Holiday Bow Style in brushed red.” - Dunn
Favorite pattern from your collections?
“I adore the Ruffled Sally Dress. It’s the perfect blend of vintage style with a modern update.” - Shannon
“It’s so hard for me to pick a favorite because I love them all for different reasons! If I had to decide, I’d say I like the Jack Shortall Set the most. We tend to pair unexpected colors together with this style, but it remains so classic.” - Dunn
What is the best part of running your own brand and business?
“Feeling immensely proud of Little English and all that we’ve accomplished. I never tire of seeing customers wearing our products and incorporating Little English into their lives and childhood memories. It’s such an honor.” - Shannon
“We get to be creative every single day! Plus, I get to bring my sweet dog, Gatsby, to work. He’s our Chief Barketing Officer (a very important position!). - Dunn
Southern piece of advice for young mothers dressing their little ones?
“Look for quality pieces that can be handed down from sibling to sibling. Also, remember that soft color palettes look best on every child. And finally, don’t forget that they’re only little for such a short while, so dress them well!” – Shannon
“No bow, no go! And always add knee highs when possible.” - Dunn
And of course, what color Big O Key Rings do you adore?
“Love the lOnghOrn Orange! It reminds me of fall weather and quail hunting with friends and family in southern Texas.” - Shannon
“I love the cOtton Candy one! My favorite flowers of all time are pink tulips and this reminds me of those.” - Dunn
